Help Schaeffer Eye Center send children with diabetes to an incredible camp experience to help them learn to manage their disease! Click here for a 30 second spot. Camp Seale Harris is weeklong summer camp held at the beautiful Camp ASCCA facilities in Jackson’s Gap, Ala. Each year, Southeastern Diabetes Education Services educates hundreds of young children and teenagers in how to live successfully with their disease. Campers learn about the proper balance of diet, exercise and medication. This fully immersive learning environment enables children to blend their unique lives with a diabetes treatment style that works for them. Along with a medical staff, campers interact with their peers and counselors, all who have diabetes, too. So instead of being “alone” with their disease, everyone is learning from one another. Camp Seal Harris also offers campers with diabetes the opportunity to participate in activities that all children enjoy, showing them that their disease does not have to limit them in any way. Activities include horseback riding, canoeing, swimming, fishing, rappelling/zip line, tubing and many, many more. Schaeffer Eye Center has created the Schaeffer Diabetes Fund to specifically send Alabama children to Camp Seale Harris, who would not otherwise be able to afford to go. Here’s how you can help.
