TOTAL CONTACT LENS CENTER

At Schaeffer Eye Center, contact lenses are our specialty. A contact lens examination has always been confused with the general eye examiniation. During a contact lens examination, the doctor will first check the anterior, or front, segment of the eye. The anterior segment of the eye includes the eye lids, the eye lashes, the conjuctiva, the cornea and the limbus. All of these structures are involved in the fitting of the contact lens. While these areas are checked during an eye examination for general disease, they are not examined for their adaptability for contact lens wear.

During a contact lens evaluation, the doctor will also put a contact lens on the eye and observe the way it fits the eye. We want to make sure that we minimize the risk of any complications.

It is very rare for a contact lens prescription to be the same as a prescription for glasses. They are two different prescriptions and the only proper way to determine a contact lens prescription is by putting a lens on the eye and performing a refraction, or eye check, over the contact lens.

Schaeffer Eye Center specializes in a yearly contact lens program that includes an eye examination, a contact lens examination, contact lens instruction, and multiple pairs of lenses, with the majority of the program going into a quarterly replacement of the contact lenses. Our program includes all lenses, a spare pair, unlimited contact lens visits, and all contact lens solutions( remove form print all solutions as we do not do that) , cases, and equipment needed to properly care for the contact lenses. The purpose of the program is to promote eye health and proper vision.
