About The Procedure
Schaeffer LaserVision Offers Proven Technology Options
Conventional LASIK: Corrects basic vision errors such as nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.
Custom Wavefront (CustomVue LASIK): After deciding to have LASIK, many patients opt for Custom LASIK, the enhanced FDA approved vision correction procedure that involves the use of a wavefront analyzer. Custom LASIK is a specialized treatment, using the most advanced technology in this industry.
- The wavefront analyzer produces a sophisticated map of your cornea, like a fingerprint – no two are alike, which is 25 times more precise than standard measurements.
- It captures imperfections, or “high order aberrations,” which are tiny irregularities that cannot be corrected by glasses or contact lenses.
- All of this data is transferred electronically to the laser and an individualized treatment plan is developed. This plan will exactly match and correct your visual errors.
- Treatment and recovery time are typically the same as traditional LASIK.
With Custom Lasik, many patients will actually see better than they could with glasses or contact lenses. Many also noticed reduced glare and night vision problems versus previous corrective lenses before LASIK surgery. Wavefront LASIK has been called leading edge because it has the potential to improve how much you see, but also how well you can see.
